NX Group and JAL expand air cargo network across Asia and North America

Nippon Express Holdings (NX Group) and Japan Airlines are launching a new air cargo partnership covering Asia–North America and intra-Asia routes, using a Boeing 747 freighter, with the first flight scheduled to depart Los Angeles on October 3, 2026.

The partnership will cover key routes between Asia and North America as well as intra-Asia trade lanes, according to the announcement. It will use a Boeing 747 freighter secured by JAL through collaboration with its partners. The round-trip route originates in Los Angeles and connects Narita, Taipei (Taoyuan), Singapore and Narita before returning to Los Angeles.

The first flight is scheduled to depart Los Angeles on Saturday, October 3, 2026. The service will initially operate once a week in 2026, and NX Group and JAL plan to explore further network expansion. The 747F has capacity for approximately 100 tonnes, and cargo handling is available at each stop on the circuit.

The new Narita–Taipei–Singapore–Narita service aims to address strong demand for AI- and semiconductor-related cargo, particularly across the Tokyo–Taipei–Singapore corridor, as well as growing intra-Asia transportation needs. The announcement notes limited availability of large freighter services within Asia. The service is also intended to meet demand for oversized and heavy cargo, including server racks and data center equipment, and high-value shipments.
