IAG Cargo transports seasonal flowers to Spain for All Saints' Day
IAG Cargo moved hundreds of tonnes of flowers from Colombia and Ecuador to Spain in the month before All Saints' Day, with volumes significantly higher than in the equivalent 2025 period.
All Saints' Day is marked in Spain on 1 November and drives a sharp seasonal increase in demand for fresh-cut flowers. IAG Cargo said it transported hundreds of tonnes of blooms from growing hubs in Colombia and Ecuador to Spain during the month before the celebrations, and that transatlantic floral shipments rose significantly compared with the equivalent period in 2025.
The carrier used its Constant Fresh service for temperature-sensitive perishables. On arrival, shipments were handled at its Madrid hub, which has 1,340 square metres of dedicated space for temperature-controlled perishable cargo. Rodrigo Casal of IAG Cargo said teams work with Latin American partners to assess demand and use available capacity.
Real Carga Ltda, a Bogotá-based forwarder, starts planning months ahead, its CEO Ernesto Bernal said. COO Andrés Bernal noted capacity is a major challenge because flowers are time-sensitive. IAG Cargo said Constant Fresh also supports shipments of seafood, fresh fruit and vegetables.
